IRC Workshop Evaluator

 

The role

This role is an exciting opportunity to join the Inclusive Research Collective (IRC) as a workshop evaluator. This is a part-time (0.4 FTE), fixed term role for 4 months (September 2022 – December 2023). Pay is based on Grade H, spine point 26 (£30,497, pro rata).

About the IRC

The IRC was started in August 2020 by student and staff members of the Faculty of Life Sciences. The founding aim of the group was to raise awareness of and challenge exclusionary and biased practices in biomedical research. Since then, the group’s scope and work have expanded to include guest lectures, research seminar series, internal consultancy on matters related to inclusivity in scientific research and teaching, diversifying and decolonise the life science curriculum and external seminars designed to be suitable for all academic disciplines. Through its work, the IRC has now become an established and in-demand group of highly engaged individuals on the topics of inclusive research practice and research culture.

What you will be doing:

  • Attending a 6-part workshop series on Inclusive Research Practice (5 virtual sessions, 1 in-person session)

  • Collecting and collating feedback from attendees

  • Evaluating and measuring impact of the workshop series

  • Disseminating your findings by way of an oral presentation and written report

About the vacancy

We are looking for a workshop evaluator for a 6-part event series organised by the Inclusive Research Collective, a group whose aim is to raise awareness and challenge exclusionary practices as well as transform the way we think, do and produce research. In this role, you will primarily attend and evaluate the workshop series, which is sponsored by Research England. You will collect and collate feedback from attendees and write an impact document, suggesting improvements to the series and highlighting areas of good practice. This is an exciting opportunity to also help the IRC develop its staff and student training remit, both inside and outside the University of Bristol.

Essential requirements

  • Excellent organisational skills.

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, being able to handle

    confidential information with sensitivity and discretion.

  • Proactive attitude and commitment to diversity and inclusion.

  • A proven track record of evaluating content.

Preferred requirements

  • A knowledge of thematic analysis could be useful, but not essential.

  • A proven track record of measuring impact.
